For those of you who may or may not know, the library is adding a new retro gaming corner that will include retro games for people to play. The plans for it are still in development, but I do have the games and consoles available for you to look through.
The first console we are looking over is the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), which was made in 1983, released in Japan, and released in America in 1985. The games that it was made for to start are the arcade games that were wildly successful. The games that we have that will be available to play on this console if they work are Super Mario Bros. 1, 2, and 3, Duck Hunt, Tecmo Superbowl, Jack Nicklaus Golf, TalesSpin (a platform game), Bases Loaded, and Rocket Ranger. There are currently two controllers as well as two guns for Duck Hunt.
The next console we will be looking at is the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), which was made in 1990. The games available are Super Mario Kart, NCAA Basketball, NBA Jam, Donkey Kong, and Country Street Fighter 2. There are currently two controllers available.
The last console for now is the Nintendo 64, made in 1997. The games that will be available are Donkey Kong 64, Mario Kart 64, Golden Eye 007, Madden NFL 2001, Yoshi's Story, and 1080° Snowboarding. There are currently four controllers, as there are multiple multiplayer games.
The current release date for the retro gaming corner is undetermined, as a little more work needs to be done to set up the consoles. For more information, ask Mr. Benson in the library.
