Hello everyone, today I wanted to talk about one of my favorite mangakas: Kentaro Miura.

Kentaro Miura is a Japanese manga artist, he was born in Chiba City, Japan, on July 11,1966.

When Miura was at the age of 10 in 1976 he made his first manga titled Miuranger, which he created 40 volumes of. One year later Miura created Ken e no Michi (“The Way of The Sword”) which was the second manga he created. Two years later when he was in middle school in 197 is when his drawing techniques improved exponentially, when he started to use professional drawing techniques.

In highschool he befriended his lifelong best

friend Kouji Mori after enrolling in his high school's art curriculum. After graduating high school he started working as an assistant for famous manga artist kyoji Morikawa, who is most known for his manga Hajime no Ippo. Who noticed Miura’s artistic skill

and dismissed him saying “there was nothing I could teach him.”

In 1988 while in college at Nihon University Miura published his 48-page manga known as Berserk prototype which would soon become known as Berserk. His prototype manga won a prize from the Comi Manga School. The first volume of Berserk was published in 1990 The first volume of Berserk covered the “Black Swordsman” Arc. It covered the story of a solitary swordsman named Guts, on a mission to kill a monster. and had relatively limited success mostly due to the fact that Guts is mostly just an edgy anti hero with a bad attitude and that he was n

ot that likable or compelling early on in the series. Due to this the Black Swordsman Arc did not do very well. Later on through the story is when the Golden age arc which covered Guts’s childhood and is when berserk hit the ground running, and is

when Miura started his career as a

mangaka, and got his series published by Young Animal. In 1997 Miura was approached by OLM, Inc, and introduced to the idea of a 25 episode anime adaptation of Berserk which Miura supervised. And in 1999 he supervised the Dreamcast video game Sword of The Berserk Guts’ Rage.

Through the years Berserk went on frequent hiatus, and irregular chapter releases. Berserk had officially reached 40 volumes by the year 2018 and had sold more than 50 million copies worldwide.

On May 6, 2021, Miur

a tragically passed away due to acute

aortic dissection at the age of 54, and was publicly announced on May 20, 2021

Miura created one of the best selling and one of the best stories of all time. Miura's story had an impact on the manga medium and beyond the manga world. With the immense impact it had on games, anime, and movies, including the legendary series of games and anime including Dark Souls, Devil May Cry, Attack on Titan, and so much more. Following Miuras death, Studio Gaga which is the manga production company he worked with and Kouji Mori would continue Miuras legacy and continue the series of Berserk, Even so it would never be the same.
