Next year's calendar brings some important changes. On Nov. 18, 2025, the Calendar Committee proposed changes to the 2026-2027 school year calendar that would alternate the school year start and end dates and the staff exchange days.
Starting next school year, the first day of school will be pushed later, and instead of starting on Thursday, August 14th, school will be in session on Wednesday, August 19th. This will give students one more week of summer break. This change was decided after speculation about the rising heat in August and wanting to avoid school closings due to it.
Even with this change, school will continue to be planned to end in the final week of May to ensure kids keep their 2 months of summer, the calendar will continue to keep a five-day fall break in November and a two-week winter break in December.
