Food For Thought: Homemade Peppermint Frozen Hot Chocolate

Have you ever cooked for yourself before? If not, that's okay, I have your back, and if you are a senior going into college and you are worried about what you are going to eat, I got you. These recipes will be cheap, short, as well as healthy so you don't have to eat ramen or any other unhealthy foods, instead of eating those, make this recipe, and thank me later. I will also show you how to make this recipe and you can follow me.


Christmas is right around the corner and no better way to enjoy Christmas with your family or friends than making a delicious drink with them while you are at home.


Recipe:


Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup ice cubes

  2. 4 tablespoons hot chocolate mix powder

  3. milk just enough to cover the ice in the blender

  4. 1 candy cane crushed

  5. whip cream optional

Equipment:

  1. Blender

  2. Zip Lock Baggie

  3. Glass cup

All Ingredients:

Instructions:

1. Put 1 cup of ice cubes and hot chocolate mix in the blender.

2. Pour just enough milk to cover the ice cubes into the blender.

3. Add 3/4 of one crushed candy cane into the blender.

4. Pulse for 10-15 seconds. Then blend on high for about 10 seconds. If it's too thick you can add more milk.

5. Pour into serving cups and garnish with whipped cream and the remaining crushed candy cane.

Milk Substitutions:

  • Soy Milk

  • Almond Milk

  • Canned coconut milk

  • Water

  • Oat Milk

  • HEMP Milk

Whipped Cream Substitutions:

  • Silk Heavy Whipping Cream

  • Coconut Cream

  • Soy Milk and Olive Oil Cream

  • Vegan Soy Heavy Cream

  • Non-Dairy Milk and Cornstarch

  • Vegan Cashew Cream

  • White Bean Cream

You can always make your own whipped cream. You can use heavy whipping cream to make it with stuff you can eat.


Instructions:

  1. Pour the heavy whipping cream of your choice into a standing mixer with the whipping attachment on it.

  2. Put whatever flavoring you want in it to make it taste good

  3. Put the Mixer in its highest setting

  4. Now wait until the whipping cream is starting to get thick

  5. Once the whipped cream is at your desired thickness put it on top of your frozen hot chocolate

Gluten-Free Substitutions


Hot Coco Substitutions:

  • Dairy-Free Hot Cocoa.

  • Mexican Atole.

  • Anijsmelk.

  • Lebanese White Coffee.

  • Yuanyang Tea.

Equipment Substitutions:


No Blender? You can use rolling pins, a masher, or a mortar and pestle.

  • These can be used to mash or puree soft ingredients like ripe fruit, or help you crush ice in a pinch.

No Zip Lock Baggies? Us a morter and pestle.


No Glass cups? Use tall plastic cups or a mason jar.
